- We all dismiss ideas
We all dismiss ideas
I have abandoned ideas in the past because:
I didn’t know I had to “keep pushing”
- First idea, first barrier—oh, it doesn’t work.
- Move to the second one—same scenario.
- Then the third. And so on.
I wasn’t giving up—I saw each barrier as proof that it wouldn’t work.
Then I learned what it means to be persistent:
- Persistence is having mindset to overcome any barrier.
- Persistence is gaining knowledge to remove any barrier.
- Persistence is finding solutions to overcome any barrier.
These three definitions of persistence elevated me to new heights.
Even in my creative problem-solving field, it’s part of my role to identify barriers and ensure a solution with as few problems as possible.
So…
If you're starting a business,
If you're building a new idea,
If you're building a career…
And you’re facing barriers and roadblocks, don’t change course.
This is the nature of taking “new” actions and pursuing “new” directions.
A barrier isn’t a validation; it’s a learning and improvement curve.
Give ideas time—at least six months—using the three definitions of persistence.
Keep pushing, then decide.
Pushing is a continuous cycle of "revolving efforts" with patience.
P.S. How many ideas have you started but not finished?
Thanks for reading, we will talk in the next letter.
