How can you design product strategy?
They say product strategy is about features
I say product strategy lacks specificity.
Ask yourself as a team: do we need…
- A strategy to retain customers?
- A strategy to develop the product?
- A strategy to grow the product?
These are categories of strategy, with sub-category
(in the comments for a breakdown)
Product strategy is an ocean—just like business strategy.
My advise to you: Choose a category of strategy.
What’s your move—if you want to ship fast & smart?
1. Understand your current product challenges.
2. List all these challenges in buckets (per category).
3. Prioritize the category with the most challenges.
4. Dig to identify which sub-categories need attention.
5. Prioritize and roadmap; less urgent issues for later.
Cut through ambiguity, simplify, and bring focus.
You don’t only ship but align with business goals.
Then everyone will say, “you guys are crushing it”
(Save it for your next product strategy session)
