3 methods I use to wire my mind to innovate
You process visuals 60,000 times faster than text.
One picture worth a thousand word. While:
- You & your team discuss issues, risks, priorities verbally.
- You align verbally, but team mental models vary.
- Verbal and text-only discussions miss critical nuances.
I see it everyday… No one is considering:
- Everything consist of a workflows, processes or steps.
- Cognitive ability can’t see details & make connections.
- Early humans communicated visually for a reason.
As a systems thinker, here are the three methods I use to map systems with precision:
1. Journey mapping:
Visualizes a user’s end-to-end experience, highlighting touch points and emotions.
(User =customers or employees)
2. Service Blueprint:
Links users interactions (front-stage) with internal processes/systems (backstage).
3. Process map:
Details step-by-step workflows, roles, and decisions to streamline tasks.
From startups to enterprises, I’ve witnessed the cost of neglecting visual thinking and mapping:
→ Inefficiency, unresolved conflict, and strategic drift.
Visual transform ambiguity into clarity, complexity into simplicity, and disagreement into alignment.
P.S. Do you assemble furniture without instructional map?
